Talks on the Senate Pact have not been interrupted and are ongoing; Another meeting on this issue is scheduled for Tuesday, PSL politicians emphasize in an interview with PAP. “Reassured, everything is on the right track. We will put an end to it,” the politician from the left declared.

“Everything is on schedule”
The co-chair of the New Left, Robert Biedroń, said on the program “Tłit WP” on Monday that talks on the Senate pact unfortunately broke down because one of the leaders stated that the polls of other opposition groups had changed.
Rest assured, as far as the Senate Pact is concerned, everything is on track. We’re ending it
– told PAP Dariusz Wieczorek, who is participating in the negotiations on behalf of the left. The politician denied that the talks would be broken off.
We normally meet. On Tuesday we have a meeting that was arranged about 10 days ago. We’ll see you on Thursday too. Everything is under control
– he said.
The politician from the left added that the meetings of the Senate Pact negotiators will be held as agreed, with the same composition. In addition to him, the negotiations will also be attended by Marcin Kierwiński from KO, Piotr Zgorzelski from PSL, Michał Kobosko from Poland 2050 by Szymon Hołownia, among others.
Every now and then something happens there, something changes, everything is alive
Wieczorek explained.
He also announced that a meeting of the leaders of the groups participating in the Senate Pact negotiations will be held soon.
We prepare all solutions for the leaders’ meetings
Evening said. He added that leaders are expected to agree on a date for the meeting soon. He did not rule out that the leaders’ meeting could even take place next week, but the exact date will depend on their agenda.
We want it to go fast
– added.
At the same time, the politician of the left announced that about 80 constituencies had been agreed; however, it is still unknown what about the major voivodeships – Wielkopolska and Mazowsze, where the largest number of senatorial districts are.
We leave it to the leaders to decide because there are many constituencies and many strong candidates in these places so it is already a political decision and it must be made by the leaders
explained the politician from the left.
The KO is asking for a review of the districts
According to PAP, the Civic Coalition has requested a review of the constituencies that would receive PSL and Polska 2050 (7 and 10-11, respectively), as current polls indicate no such support for the formations that recently formed the Third Way. The left would maintain its status quo at the level of 10 potential seats.
When asked about these issues, Wieczorek responded that they seemed “completely unnecessary”.
We did research, because we do something like this every month, and at the last meeting we agreed that since there is now a Third Way project, everything has to be verified in the context of the Third Way. However, it will not bring any major changes
he noticed.
The PSL spokesman, Miłosz Motyka, spoke in a similar tone, stressing that talks on the Senate pact have not broken down and are ongoing.
We hope that all issues will be resolved soon, because the Senate Pact is the best way to defeat PiS in the Senate elections and keep the majority
– emphasized the farmers’ spokesperson, referring to the meeting scheduled for Tuesday on this matter.
When asked why, according to Biedroń, the talks broke down, Motyka replied that “his colleague who is taking part in the negotiations may not have fully informed him about all the arrangements.”
But this is an internal matter of the left
– added.
“Biedron bothers”
PSL deputy Marek Sawicki also assured that Senate pact talks are still ongoing.
In my opinion, Biedroń is just clouding. As far as I know, there were no controversies about closing the Senate Pact project
emphasized the MP. As he judged, “Maybe Biedroń wants to speed up some things.”
I feel like everyone living in Brussels is a bit too influenced by just one concept, but this concept is just not what I like
Sawicki said.
According to PAP information, the parties are close to an agreement, although there are still some disputed districts. Unofficially, one of the politicians of the group involved in the negotiations confirmed to PAP that Biedroń had told the truth because the disputed issues had not been resolved and negotiations were slowing down. However, he admitted that Biedroń’s statement was a step too far, as the talks were not broken off completely. When asked about Biedroń’s motives, the politician judged that the New Left co-chair apparently “decided to arrange something before the meeting scheduled for this week”.
Another PAP interlocutor participating in the negotiating meetings believes that negotiations should be accelerated, the situation re-analyzed, disputes resolved quickly and an agreement reached.
At the end of February, representatives of: KO, Poland 2050, New Left, PSL and the Local Government Movement “Yes! For Poland” signed a statement concluding the so-called Senate Pact. each other, but common candidates in all constituencies. They will be drawn from all parties in proportion to the opinion polls for each of them and taking into account the best odds in a particular constituency. Current senators belonging to opposition clubs will be given priority to to apply under the Pact.
The first Senate Pact was concluded before the parliamentary elections in 2019: Civic Coalition (PO, Nowoczesna, Inicjatywa Polska, Zieloni), SLD Election Commission (SLD, Lewica Together, Spring) and PSL – Coalition of Poland (including PSL and Kukiz’15). As part of the pact, the opposition in the vast majority of constituencies has put forward only one candidate for senator against PiS. Thanks to this, the opposition jointly won the elections to the Senate – with 51 out of 100 seats.
