New Left co-chair Robert Biedroń said on the program “Tłit” (Wirtualna Polska) that talks on the Senate Pact were broken off by one of the leaders of the opposition party. Interlocutors of the wPolityce.pl portal participating in the negotiations do not confirm these reports. However, Polish Senator 2050 Jacek Bury, who until recently participated in these negotiations, believes that KO is deliberately playing time. for what? It is about putting pressure on the establishment of a single opposition list in the elections for the Sejm.
Robert Bidron in the “Tłit” program, he said that talks on the Senate Pact would break down because one of the leaders of the opposition formation stated that individual party polls had changed and that the composition of the Pact was being renegotiated. According to Biedroń, Donald Tusk was probably the sole leader.
The information is not true. The works are completed
– Yes Zygmunt FrankiewiczKO senator participating in Senate pact negotiations answers wPolityce.pl question whether what Biedroń said is true.
“Nothing bad happens”
Darius Wieczoreka member of parliament representing the left in the Senate pact talks also points out that the situation is not as outlined by Robert Biedroń.
Nothing wrong, everything works. I assure you, everything is fine, I think that Robert Biedroń’s statement is rather his subjective assessment, he does not participate in the Senate pact talks
– says Dariusz Wieczorek in an interview with the portal wPolityce.pl. It only confirms that there has not been a meeting of opposition leaders for a long time, although the leadership of the left is prepared for it. However, he strongly denies that talks on the Senate pact have broken down.
This is of course not true. The assessments have changed, but with the final team, we agreed that we will do all of this in the final talks based on the June study
– he informs, adding that a meeting on the Senate Pact will be held tomorrow.
Robert Biedroń’s words on Twitter have already sparked a sharp response Mariusz WitczakMP.
For the sake of historical fairness, I would like to inform you that in 2019 the opposition united under the banner of the European Coalition, which was not joined by Robert Biedroń’s Spring (lost a few percent to win PiS). It was an introduction to the Senate Pact, which was conceived and implemented by Grzegorz Schetyna
Witczak wrote on Twitter.
It is not necessary at all, but I assure you that everything is fine
– Wieczorek comments on the above post.
“The PO does not care about the conclusion of the negotiations”
It is very interesting what the Senator of Poland 2050 Jacek Bury tells the portal wPolityce.pl. Although he no longer participates in the Senate Pact talks (now Poland 2050 is represented in it by Michał Kobosko), he certainly presents the point of view arising from his participation in the negotiations that the KO does not care about a quick conclusion of the negotiations .
I don’t know if the Senate Pact talks broke down, I’m not in it anymore, but they’ve definitely slowed down and there’s been no decision making. It is my impression that the PO really wants the Senate Pact not to be “sleeped” at least at this point because legitimizing individual parties when it comes to the Senate Pact would be a barrier to creating a lever of pressure on one list
– say Jack Bury.
I’m sure the PO doesn’t care about the conclusion of the negotiations, but they are continuing them by renegotiating the number of seats and occupying districts that have already been vacated by their senators. They combine all possible sides so that the negotiations do not end
he adds.
“They want to force everyone on one list”
Is the KO about to increase its position within the Senate Pact because of the shifting party polls?
This is just a smoke screen and the real point is not to complete the Senate Pact. If we announced how many districts the left has, how many Poland has 2050, etc., it would legitimize the separate start of individual parties. PO doesn’t care about that, they want to force everyone on one list. That is why the negotiations cannot be concluded, because it seems that we have divided constituencies for the Senate, and yet there is one opposition list for the Sejm, which they dream of at night
Bury emphasizes.
When asked if extending the negotiations is a form of pressure on opposition partners to start with one list, he replies:
Precisely. You can’t go to the Senate separately and say we want one list for the Sejm. If KO is still trying to push the idea of a single list from the opposition with his knee, he will not be able to finish the negotiations on the Senate pact in the form it came about.
Officially, KO politicians, with Donald Tusk at the helm, declare that they have already given up on the topic of drawing up a single opposition list for the next election. According to Jacek Bury, this is just the official message from KO, and in fact it is different.
PO acolytes, “Together Strong” and a certain Tomasz Lis have already agreed on it? In the PO, they have a policy of acting on one list, and the official position is different
– say.
Possible other reason for problems in the negotiations
According to unofficial information from the wPolityce.pl portal, the reason why it is difficult for the KO to complete the negotiations on the Senate pact may be another – the fact is that the party needs to remove some of the current KO senators tell them that they will no longer be able to run for re-election to the Senate, but they can run for the Sejm.
The wPolityce.pl portal also questioned Robert Biedroń’s statements to Marcin Kierwiński, General Secretary of the PO, and to Piotr Zgorzelski, Deputy Chairman of the Sejm of PSL. Both are taking part in the Senate Pact negotiations. Unfortunately, by the time this text was published, they had not yet answered the questions.
