The Confederacy maintains its high position in the polls for another week in a row. Research by studio Social Changes for the wPolityce.pl portal shows that the party of Mentzen, Bosak and Braun can count on 14 percent. support. This puts the group in the position of the third force. The wPolityce.pl portal asked Prof. Henryk Domański, a sociologist from the Polish Academy of Sciences.
Where does the high level of support for the Confederacy come from?
The expert emphasizes that no research has yet been done on this issue, but observations show that the Confederation is gaining support for the Ukrainian issue, which is a decisive factor.
A large part of Polish society has a negative attitude towards the benefits Ukrainians in Poland receive from the Polish state. According to the respondents, this is based on observations made at the expense of Poland. They think that the government is interfering unnecessarily with this because we get nothing from it and it is also not fair. The Confederation is critical of the Ukrainians and their “privileged position” – as it describes it. As you know, this is the only formation that is not afraid to say it publicly
– points out Prof. Domanski.
The sociologist adds that the increase in support for the Confederacy is “at the expense of the Law and Justice electorate.”

Coalition or independent action?
When asked which party Konfederacja could form a coalition with if it is up to the parties of Mentzen, Bosak and Braun to win the majority in the Sejm, Prof. Henryk Domański replied that it is not in the interest of entering into coalitions of the Confederation because it benefits from being an independent party.
What could the Confederacy gain by entering into a coalition with Law and Justice, which is most likely? It could influence the actions of PiS, but then it would have to make compromises, for example regarding its attitude towards Ukrainians. Then they would immediately lose support with 14 percent. for 7-8 percent. they occasionally had
emphasizes the sociologist.
To draw attention to the fact that according to the Social Changes survey for the wPolityce.pl portal, a whopping 47 percent. respondents believe the Confederacy will not enter into any coalition, 40 percent. indicated a coalition with PiS and 13 percent. from KO, Professor Domański notes that Poland’s recognition of this issue is very good, and that the independent Confederation can afford much more.
Poles recognize it very well. Konfederacja is a typical party that should be isolated from other political parties, because it benefits – by emphasizing its self-reliance, independence, not getting caught up in compromises. No other party can afford it – and the Confederacy can, as long as it remains independent
– says in an interview with the wPolityce.pl portal, Prof. Henry Domanski.
