The “Day of Silence” before the presidential elections was held without violation DEA News Regarding the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan.

Elections are held after amendments to the constitution of Uzbekistan to increase the term of office of the head of state from five to seven years. Incumbent President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who is also in office for a second term, has the right to stand for two consecutive terms.
In addition to Mirziyoyev, three other candidates are participating in the elections – Ecological Party leader Abdushukur Khamzaev, People’s Democratic Party leader Ulugbek Inoyatov and the first deputy chairman of the Supreme Court Robakhon Makhmudova.
Presidential elections in Uzbekistan will be held on Sunday, July 9th.
