At yesterday’s meeting in the Prime Minister’s Chancellery on the migration of the so-called Democratic Opposition was represented only by the President of PSL, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. Representatives of the left, Poland 2050 and KO refused to participate. Why? PSL MP Marek Sawicki, in an interview with the wPolityce.pl portal, presents sensational information, especially regarding the position of the KO on this matter.
Marek Sawicki responds to the opposition politicians who were critical of participating in the meeting organized with the Prime Minister’s Chancellery.
If politicians want to lock themselves in their bubbles and don’t want to talk, don’t want to confront each other by looking each other in the eye, but do it with TikTok, then it’s not politics anymore. You should not only have the courage to use TikTok, but also to look the other person in the eye and tell them the truth. Kosiniak-Kamysz went and told this truth
– say Mark Sawicki. TikTok is currently being used by many Polish politicians, but it is no secret that when it comes to the opposition, Donald Tusk has been happy to communicate with the public through this Chinese service lately.
Eight years of PiS rule, we have participated in all consultations, no matter what. The problem, of course, in my opinion is that PiS is using this meeting politically and it was prepared for that, but if all the opposition went there it would throw this weapon out of PiS’s hands. PiS hoped that not all the opposition would go to this meeting and that they would say that all the opposition wanted to introduce a migration pact
he adds.
“PiS set a trap for the opposition
Marek Sawicki emphasizes that this meeting was necessary, if only to discuss the regime for issuing visas for immigrants, from which the government eventually withdrew. Interestingly, the PSL MP is convinced Donald Tusk and Szymon Hołownia would have attended yesterday’s meeting had they been invited.
PiS set a trap for the opposition, inviting not the leaders of the party, but the leaders of the clubs and circles. I am convinced that if Donald Tusk and Szymon Hołownia had been invited directly, they would both have attended this meeting
– say.
“They wanted to go to that meeting.”
PSL MP reveals what he heard from PO politicians. According to his information, the PO hesitated until the end to participate in the meeting in the Prime Minister’s Chancellery. Ultimately, Donald Tusk would say “no” to this idea.
They wanted to go to this meeting and didn’t know what to do until the last minute. They just didn’t know whether Kierwiński or Budka should go there. Tusk dropped out because they concluded they wouldn’t be able to defend the correct story. Budka wondered until the last moment whether he would go to this meeting, but Tusk did not let him go because he would be too thin in these conversations
— such sensational information is presented by a PSL MP. He adds with regard to democratic opposition, a firm position was taken not only by PSL, but also by the left on participation in the meeting in the prime minister’s chancery.
They took a firm position from the start, just like Kosiniak-Kamysz. The president of the PSL immediately said that he was going to this meeting, and the left was not. There was no doubt about this
– underlined.
Sawicki: I do not understand Poland’s behavior regarding the meeting in the Prime Minister’s Chancellery
And what about Poland 2050? Here too, Marek Sawicki says very interesting things, and his words are unlikely to receive a warm reception from the coalition partner.
It is a small community, emotions are high there, the deputies of Poland 2050 still maintain relations with their colleagues from PO and the pressure from this side is enormous. I don’t understand their behavior in the context that they hold consultations in the Sejm a month before, to which they invite PiS and PO is surprised that they did, and on the other hand, when PiS invites them for consultations, they do not go to them because they are afraid that the OP will be surprised again
– say Mark Sawickiprobably referring to the consultations on the Future+ project organized by the Third Way (they were actually initiated by Poland 2050).
To the point where his statement sounds like a criticism of the Third Way coalition partner, he replies:
No, it’s not a criticism, I understand them, because they really took a step of their own accord. It’s not easy to build a party if you don’t have money and formal structures in the field that are still being created. We form a coalition, not just one group, because everyone retains autonomy in certain matters, which allows us to prepare the election campaign calmly and well.
The PSL MP answers the question whether it is not the case that the divergent positions of PSL and Poland 2050 on important issues create an impression of chaos in the coalition among voters.
We will hear how the voters react to this on election day
– he says, adding that voters often perceive different issues differently than it seems to politicians and journalists.
