Former Costa Rican President Luis Guillermo Solis Rivera is accused of trading influence to the detriment of the country’s treasury. DEA News.

“The Integrity, Transparency and Anti-Corruption Attorney’s Office (FAPTA) has accused former President (2014-2018) Solis Rivera and four members of his government of allegedly trading influence against the State Treasury. It’s called the Bancrédito case,” the Attorney General’s office reads.

Prosecutors believe the former president colluded with the chief of staff, finance minister and national treasurer and deputy to transfer money from the state treasury to Cartago’s Bancrédito bank account to maintain liquidity.

Former President Solis denies accusations and allegations that his government is acting in the best interests of the country and the people, stating that it is in the interests of creditors and bank employees in the Bancrédito case.
