European politics is more and more present in our lives – we are already at the stage where things happening in Europe increasingly affect our daily lives – PiS MEP Beata Szydło said on TVP Info on Thursday.
European politics is more and more present in our lives – we are already at such a stage that things happening in Europe are increasingly affecting our daily lives. It is worth mentioning, for example, these sick regulations regarding +Fit for 55+, even the fact that we will be limited in our ability to drive combustion cars, that we will pay more for electricity or gas. This will affect our current lives – there will be restrictions on travel, flights, etc. This is the idea of a liberal left group in the EU; one can say that they are building a modern communism here
– stressed the MEP.
Election rate
According to Beata Szydło, since the current Polish government is very clear that it opposes such solutions, the group will strive to change them.
The upcoming elections are about a sovereign, safe and happy Poland and Europe. We must be aware that the outcome of the elections in Poland will also affect what will happen in the European Union. My colleagues from the ECR Group (European Conservatives and Reformists) recently met in Warsaw for a few days and emphasized that we are a role model for them, Poland is an inspiration for us
she added.
According to the MEP, one of the people who was impressed by the way the Polish government looks after the country’s sovereignty was Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. B. Szydło compared this statement to the words of German MEP Manfred Weber, who said “we will do everything we can to remove PiS from power”.
As if he claimed the right to decide for the Poles who should rule them. No, the Poles themselves will decide who and how they will rule
she noted.
According to Szydło, the victory of the United Right in Poland or the Conservatives in Spain will pave the way for building a strong Conservative faction in the European Parliament, which will open the possibility to fight for a “peaceful and secure Europe”.
Looking at what’s happening in many European cities right now, these protests from residents – they don’t come out of the blue. The fact that people are taking to the streets stems from the fact that they don’t have a job, they don’t feel safe, that the European Union is not on their side. The EU has become a machine for civil servants, Brussels elites and those who have any lobby and interests there. I believe that not only Poles, but Europeans in other countries will be so observant and wise that, understanding that security is in their hands, they will choose people who will guarantee it
she stressed.
“The EU is very important to us”
The former prime minister expressed her belief that the Conservative group will be stronger in the next term of the European Parliament and will be able to block bad solutions. She noted that right-wing groups are gaining importance and support not only in Italy or Spain, but also in Germany and France. The only problem, she says, is perhaps their excessive radicalization.
It is very important that we get the best possible result in next year’s EP elections. (…) We must not forget that the EU is very important to us and that we need it; we want to have good relations with our neighbours, the Germans, the French and other EU members, but on a partnership basis
she added.
