Opposition politicians are repeating EU Home Affairs Commissioner Ylva Johansson’s false narrative that the relocation of migrants is allegedly voluntary. Her manipulation was repeatedly scored by the head of the Polish government, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. This doesn’t bother Katarzyna Lubnauer, for example, who even tried to make Donald Tusk a hero on TVN24.
Manipulation Commissioner Johansson
Recall that Ylva Johansson, the EU Commissioner for Home Affairs, stated at a press conference on the Italian island of Lampedusa that “if a country does not commit to relocating ‘migrants’, it must pay”. Referring to the recent EU summit in Brussels, Johansson said it was a “great success” that only two countries, Poland and Hungary, opposed the proposed relocation of migrants.
The proposal provides for relocation, but is not mandatory. What is mandatory is solidarity
she said, quoted by Ansa.
At the same time she clarified: Solidarity has been made mandatory by law. It therefore gives the Commission a new tool. If a country does not relocate, it must pay, not only to countries under pressure, but also to third countries.
Prime Minister Morawiecki: manipulation
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki exposed the manipulation of the EU Commissioner. The head of the Polish government stressed that if a country has to pay a fine for not accepting migrants, this is not solidarity but coercion.
I would like to refer to certain manipulations appearing in some media in Poland in connection with the statement of one of the Commissioners of the European Commission, Commissioner Johansson. Well, she said “all of this doesn’t mean a forced move.” Ladies and gentlemen – if a country has to pay a fine, a Member State has to pay a fine of EUR 20,000 for a migrant who has not been admitted, this is de facto coercion
noted the prime minister.
(…) some media try to turn the cat and pretend the distribution, distribution of migrants by Member States, if it has to be paid – excuse the bad word – with tribute to European institutions or God knows who, in the amount of 22,000. at a time when we received 50 to 100 euros for a refugee from war-torn Ukraine – it really is blatant discrimination, not to say harsher
Mateusz Morawiecki added.
Lubnauer whitewashes Tusk
However, the opposition prefers to repeat the arguments of the EU Commissioner. Katarzyna Lubnauer argued in an interview on TVN24 that “we are talking about a migration package that does not concern us at all”. She then stated that Tusk, when he was the head of the RE, was trying to counter forced relocation!
All of us, the entire political scene in Poland, are against our participation in forced relocations. And all Tusk did when he was president of the Council of Europe was to stop forced relocation
Katarzyna Lubnauer said.
Let us remind you that the PO-PSL government was eager to accept foreigners in Poland, speaking of readiness for “any number”. Cezary Tomczyk, the government spokesman at the time, said that “as a country we are prepared for any number of refugees”. Politician number 12 thousand. he described refugees as a “fair distribution”. Ewa Kopacz himself said that “we are ready to accept possibly two thousand”, and Rafał Trzaskowski said that Poland “will get about 5,000”. migrants.
