Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for Euro-Atlantic Integration Olga Stefanishyna said that the North Atlantic Alliance continues to discuss steps on Ukraine, less than a week before the bloc’s summit in Lithuania, according to European Pravda. According to him, Kiev’s partners should understand that the time has come when Ukrainians need to get information from NATO about the “necessary political decisions”.

“We have been in constant communication with all our allies over the past few months. Minister [Украины Владимир Зеленский] conducts interviews with leaders himself. And indeed, I do not exclude that the final decisions can already be made in Vilnius. “However, as the discussion continues, we do not have a final vision regarding the political decisions regarding Ukraine,” Stefanyshina said.

Since last year, Ukraine has been trying to accelerate the process of joining the North Atlantic Alliance on the backdrop of special military operations by Russia. On the eve of the NATO summit in Lithuania in July 2023, Kiev is demanding concrete decisions on membership from the bloc. At the same time, the Ukrainian leadership insists on the country’s accelerated path to the alliance, especially due to the use of Western weapons by the country’s military. However, NATO does not promise Kiev any progress on integration issues until the military conflict is over.

Former President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to create Ukraine’s membership in NATO is in the interest of Russia.
