Impartial local governments will participate in the elections as a political party; We have no choice, the party’s activists said on Wednesday. They announced a party program conference for July 15.
“Niepartisan” will go to the elections as a party
Tymoteusz Myrda, the chairman of the “Nonpartisan Local Government – United Us Poland” party, announced his start in the elections on Wednesday at a press conference before the Sejm.
We will participate in the 2023 parliamentary elections. We will prepare lists for the Sejm and Senate. We will participate in these elections and we count on the victory and support of the Polish citizens
Myrd said.
He informed that the nonpartisan local governments participate in the elections as a political party. In justifying this decision, he stressed that “the electoral law drafted by political parties favors political parties and excludes citizens from functioning and public and political life.”
We start as a political party. Sounds a bit grotesque, but why? The electoral law made by political parties favors political parties and effectively excludes citizens from public and political functioning and life. If we want to function in public life, if we want to participate in elections, we are forced to function as a political party
– emphasized the leader of non-partisan local governments.
Firstly, political parties report directly to the NEC, citizens must collect signatures, associations cannot participate and register a committee in their own name. […] The second: Subsidies are only for political parties, electoral commissions of voters do not get a subsidy despite they will get an election result
he explained
They begin to “restore normal Poland”
He added that one of the postulates of non-partisan local governments is to limit the privileges of political parties in electoral law.
We want to consider whether subsidies from the state budget for political parties are an expression of democracy (…) Impartial local governments go to elections to change reality, restore normality, restore normal Poland
Myrda said.
Urszula Krawczyk explained that the non-partisan self-government workers are running in the elections to the Sejm not as a movement, but as a party due to the requirements of the system.
“The system forced us to start as a party”
The system forced us to run for parliament as a party. Tool wise and technically we have no other choice. The system is constructed in such a way that the parties have privileges and the parties concretize the environment in such a way that they can gain as much as possible for themselves. Therefore, impartial local government officials go to the Sejm as a registered party, but we do not change the board
– she said.
As Grzegorz Wysocki communicated, a program conference of impartial local governments will take place on July 15. The party will present its election manifesto, demands and expectations.
