Ylva Johansson, EU Commissioner for Home Affairs, said at a press conference in Lampedusa that “if a country doesn’t commit to relocating ‘migrants’, it has to pay”. Beata Szydło, a former prime minister, currently a PiS MEP, referenced her words on Twitter.
The Brussels commissioners do not hide their contempt for the treaty rules (in the past?) that apply in the European Union. Home Affairs Commissioner Ylva Johansson declared today that the rules of the “migration pact” apply to all EU countries, regardless of Poland’s and Hungary’s objections from the last European Council
she wrote on Twitter Beata Szydlo.
“It has nothing to do with ‘European solidarity’”
Conclusions on migration were not adopted. In the EU system, this means that the new regulations should not be implemented. However, officials in Brussels make their own rules, outside the European treaties, and believe that all EU countries should submit to their will
she noted.
This has nothing to do with the ‘European solidarity’ referred to by the Commission. It is a denial of solidarity and a path to lawlessness in the Union
she added.
