King Willem-Alexander apologized for the role the Netherlands played against slavery on the 150th anniversary of the abolition of slavery in the country. DEA News.

“Today, as your king and a member of the government, I personally apologize. The slave trade and slavery are considered a crime against humanity, but the citizenship holders and the Orange royal family have done nothing to prevent it,” he said.

He recalled the times of WWII when the country “couldn’t hide behind the law” and asked for forgiveness for inaction, and the Orange-Nassau royal dynasty (house of power) earned €545 million from slavery. The period from 1675 to 1770.
