The Western “quartet” of the United States, France, Germany and the United Kingdom have almost finished drafting an agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine. It has been reported Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung (MOROCCO).

The publication states, “In the near future, the Group of Seven (G7) countries and the EU should be included in the discussion.”

While it is assumed that the role of each participating country in helping Ukraine will be announced separately, Germany insists that these obligations will not be legally binding. In Berlin they offer security to Ukraine “according to the Israeli model”.

At the same time, German journalists note that such a model for Ukraine is a “B” plan, and the main goal is to join NATO, and not to receive guarantees, which Ukraine should be a “bridge” on the path to NATO. At the same time, Kiev expects to receive security guarantees until April 2024.
