The opening of the tunnel under Świna, effectively connecting Świnoujście to the rest of Poland, is a spectacular summary – not the only, not the last – of the impressive achievements of the United Right governments. Donald Tusk didn’t find the money, Jarosław Kaczyński found it, built it in record time and for less than the billion quoted by the Prime Minister of PO. The torment of residents and tourists will come to an end and Poland’s cohesion in this area will increase – which is not without significance. Perhaps our next compatriots will believe that we should not have complexes, and even more so: we have a country that handles challenges and problems much better than our neighboursand even than Western European countries. Not a day goes by without data confirming this thesis.

But perhaps on this day it is necessary to say so with such media, with such an established order and with such strong external pressure, with the achievements aloneAs impressive as it is, the election will not be won. In a situation where Tusk shows up “color revolution”whose main axis is to provoke a wave of hatred against the government and PiS, when the extremely populist and also aggressive Confederation attacks from the right, it is already clear that the elections will be decided on the level of emotions. Achievements can help, will help, but they won’t win reelection in and of themselves. In fact, relying solely on promoting performance risks losing even more voters. The current support level for PiS is 37 percent, according to Social Changes. – is not given once and for all.
There are also phenomena that bolster PiS’ opportunities, especially the politically incomprehensible return to the issue of forced relocation. This will and should be one of the main lines of the campaign, because this issue touches the most important interests of our state and our nation. If we succumb now, it is only a matter of time before the French scenario slides into more and more chaos and loses control over large, ever-larger parts of the country. The vision of civil war on the Seine is no longer unthinkable.
However, this is still not enough. Law and justice – beyond the issue of performance and defense against immigration – need new, fresh ideas and topics. Something that is no longer ritually clothed, trusted and treated. Something that breaks through the existing axes of divisions. Something that refers to people’s specific problems, different from those eight or even four years ago. This has always been the strength of PiS: the ability to find such fields where you gain an advantage over your rival. But, I repeat, these must be new and close to voters, specific issues; the ones that will enable you to build relationships with wavering, lost, indecisive voters.
Important Note: it is not about more social or investment promises. Their echo is much weaker than in previous campaigns. These must be new topics, new axes, new system proposals. New charges.
More importantly enter campaign mode. The ruling party – in limousines, celebrating official ceremonies, speaking from offices, according to a script – will not win this campaign. In a sense, PiS needs to forget it’s in power. He has to go out, roll up his sleeves and take off his suits too. Announcements from individual ministries about later successes will not replace relationships with people – as natural and direct as possible. Closer than that during gatherings and meetings in halls. He understood Tusk, copying Andrzej Duda’s campaigns almost one-to-one – especially the one from 2015. She even dresses the same.
The independence camp must create a Polish wave, a white and red wave. At any cost, even with superhuman effort. You have to go abroad, you have to be everywhere. Not with gifts, but with a message, with hope, with a dream, with a clear, fresh look at the future. Optimistic and energetic. What works for this wave works for victory. What strengthens the image of the Party of Power brings closer the prospect of defeat.
New faces are needed. Not necessarily brand new to politics, but new to the general public. They must be people who – if only for their freshness – are listened to, draw attention to themselves and build a relationship with voters who are on the sidelines. Together with the best, top-rated, best-loved PiS politicians, they must create The company of the Ring. A team that will pick up Poland. And it will win new voters because what needed to be mobilized has already been mobilized.
The party that has been in power for eight years may be tired. It is normal. Governance inevitably consumes, costs, entangles. Various injuries and grievances accumulate over the years and cannot be easily removed from the player’s back. But if you have an idea for the future, and if you go to people, in humility, with a willingness to work hard, you can win.
I repeat: the performance of PiS is impressive. But if Jarosław Kaczyński’s side wants to win, it must somehow forget its successes. PiS needs to treat this campaign like it’s 2015. He must consider himself to be zero. This is the only chance for a third term.
