We are leveling the chances between regions, making the old concept of “Poland B” a thing of the past – said the head of the government analysis center Norbert Maliszewski in Olsztyn. He stressed that such work requires agreement and good cooperation with local authorities.
Investment in Olsztyn
PiS MP Iwona Arent and the head of the government analysis center Norbert Maliszewski hosted a press conference on Friday at the intersection of Poprzeczna and Zientary-Malewska streets in Olsztyn’s Zatorze district. Arent recalled that it will be rebuilt to improve road safety; the city received more than PLN 6.5 million from the Government Road Development Fund for this. The works, including the construction of the roundabout and reconstruction of the infrastructure, will cost a total of approximately PLN 13 million.
Arent called this investment an example of the support received by the municipality of Olsztyn from the state budget. During the conference, she referred to the city’s statements by Piotr Grzymowicz from the last session. He told the councilors that Olsztyn had not received support in any of the government contests and that “money is given to cities whose rulers come from PiS”.
The MP ruled that Olsztyn could use more government money if the cooperation of the city president were better.
I have spoken to the mayor more than once and said: let’s submit applications that are not too high, as other cities do, because applications that are too high will not make it. More conclusions, but smaller, in stages. And then we can get more money. Mr. President nodded his head and then drew grandiose conclusions, which fell through
– she said.
Reduction in the number of accidents
Norbert Maliszewski, head of the Government Analysis Center, who participated in the press conference in Olsztyn, recalled that the intersection in Zatorze is known for a high number of collisions and accidents. As he noted, the redevelopment, half-funded by the government, will make it safer. Maliszewski pointed out that improving commonly understood security, including communication, is one of the goals of the United Right.
It is important to us to reduce the number of accidents. Let us remind you that under our administration the number of fatal accidents has dropped by a third compared to 2015. We used to have more than 3,000, now we have less than 2,000. accidents. This happens, for example, thanks to the fact that investments are made in roads that offer the opportunity to improve safety
he pointed it out.
The concept of “Poland B” is already a thing of the past
Maliszewski pointed out that the second goal of joint government and local government investments is to eliminate regional disparities. According to him, the old concept of “Poland B” is already a thing of the past because of this.
For example, if we look at the surroundings of Olsztyn, Warmia and Mazury, more than PLN 7 billion was spent on highways alone during our reign. Where highways are built, new businesses are created, new jobs are created, unemployment falls
he summed up.
Maliszewski added that among the transport investments, those that form the “backbone” of the region, such as the S16 route between Mrągowo and Ełk, are important. He recalled that the government has funded this route and the construction – in accordance with the draft law, which is already in the Sejm – can be carried out as a strategic investment.
He also recalled investments related to the expansion of railway lines in the region. He also pointed out that it is not only about investments in infrastructure, but also about security, including in the military dimension.
More than PLN 2 billion has been invested in security investments. Soon, within a month, a new unit will open in Nidzica. Thus, we see that the province itself warmińsko-mazurskie is treated as a priority. This is a region of strategic investment
said Maliszewski.
What we do is equalize opportunities, equalize differences, and such work requires permission, requires agreement, requires good cooperation between government and local government
– emphasized the head of the Government Analysis Center.
