“The decision is correct, as the Wagnerians should be there, so several threats are to be expected. I would not overestimate them, but I would not underestimate them either,” said Aleksander Kwaśniewski on the ZET radio station, referring to the issue of strengthening the Polish-Belarusian border.
Strengthening border security
The strengthening of border security measures in light of the arrival of Russian mercenaries from the Wagner Group in Belarus was announced at a press conference by the head of the Ministry of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak and Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński.
Former President Aleksander Kwasniewski expressed his belief that the Wagnerians “definitely won’t come here to fight”.
Because this is an attack on a NATO country and the response must be adequate. For them, the battle against the whole of NATO is absolutely unwinnable. Decision [o wzmocnieniu granicy – red.]correct, as the Wagnerians are supposed to be there, so several threats are to be expected. I wouldn’t overestimate them, but I wouldn’t underestimate them either
said Kwasniewski.
According to the former president, Prigozhin and his people “can carry out provocations and various kinds of terrorist activities”.
But that’s why we have services. You should be vigilant, but do not panic and do not try to exploit this fact politically, because in the run-up to the elections in Poland there will be such a temptation
– said Kwaśniewski, adding that “you have to look at the hands of those in power so that they do not succumb to the temptation that we will threaten and that is how we will build our electoral support”.

Tusk for Prime Minister?
In a series of quick questions, Kwasniewski was asked, among other things, if “only Tusk is fit to be Prime Minister”. According to the former president, “in this situation yes.”
When asked whether the left should go to the polls with PO, Kwasniewski answered firmly “no”.
Respect to President Duda for Ukraine?
asked Bogdan Rymanowski, who moderated the conversation.
Yes
– admitted Aleksander Kwasniewski.

“Dangerous” referendum
The conversation also touched on the issue of the migrant referendum. According to Kwasniewski, these actions are “dangerous”.
A very dangerous idea. We are not talking about a decision taken, it is clearly a political pre-election maneuver that touches on an extremely sensitive issue. Today’s discussion about whether we want immigrants or not will be devastating for Ukrainians. If the polarizing discussion about migrants takes place in Poland, the winner of the discussion will not be PiS or PO, but the Confederation. Braun directly says: de-Ukrainization of Poland, debanterization, etc
said the former president.
PiS thinks it works for itself because it wants to polarize society and show them that they are defenders and patriots. If I were the opposition, I would boycott the referendum. Kaczyński carries out all its activities by division. We had different dividing lines: once LGBT, once migrants. The idea of a referendum is another division. We are touching on an extremely sensitive issue that still affects the people here today
– said Kwaśniewski, adding that the referendum could cause internal conflicts in Poland and “a negative attitude towards immigrants in general, and today we have immigrants from Ukraine. It is extremely dangerous. The use of weapons of mass destruction.
