The court in Warsaw has made an entry in the party register with the name Tak! For Poland. This is a group set up by impartial local governments, often accused by the opposition of being a PiS “appetizer”. As Sopot president Jacek Karnowski announced in an interview with RMF FM, the court’s decision, which is not yet final, will be protested.
“It’s typical nonsense.”
The dispute between the non-party local governments and the opposition movement of the local government of the presidents of the largest Polish cities concerns the name of the political party. The full name of the latter is: Ruch Samorządowy Yes! For Poland. Meanwhile, impartial local governments just registered a party called… Yes! For Poland.
This is an attempted identity theft. It’s a typical dirty trick to steal someone’s real name
— the president of Sopot and the president of the Self-Government Movement, Jacek Karnowski, expressed outrage in an interview with RMF FM.
Also KO senator and former president of Nowa Sól, Wadim Tyszkiewicz, assesses the move of the Nonpartisans quite sharply, which he describes as “Budly, cynical, treacherous play by people who have no problem strengthening PiS.”
“I used it because I could
However, it turns out that … the name “Ja! For Poland” was not protected in any way.
I don’t understand why people who want to do something are not effective in their actions
Bartłomiej Kubicz, an official from the Lower Silesian Marshal’s Office, a member of the nonpartisan local government, told RMF FM Radio. It was he who registered the party in court.
Name Yes! It was not protected for Poland, so I used it because I could
he assessed.
What is the self-government movement afraid of?
In connection with the registration of a new political party (although the court’s decision is not yet final), should the opposition self-government movement have anything to fear? Representatives of this party claim that while the party of impartial local governments has no chance of crossing the electoral threshold, the votes cast will benefit Law and Justice.
Politicians of the Local Government Movement are also convinced that the new party is intended to confuse voters, and what’s more – to weaken the pact of the opposition in the Senate.
Couldn’t you just keep the name?
