Shortly after the end of the term of office of the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk was sent to Poland by his German principals to, as successive leaders of the PO announced from autumn 2015, “finally remove PiS from power”.
From the start of his new mission in Poland, it was clear that his focus was on convincing voters for himself and his formation, not through program proposals, but through lies and initiating a spiral of hatred against the supporters of law and justice.
Lying advisors
In any case, lying, and even hiding lies with more lies, was recommended to him by his closest party colleagues, such as Janusz Palikot, but also by his advisers, such as Bogusław Grabowski or Marek Belka.
Tusk even lies in a vulgar way, although he knows full well that there is a “whole sea” of press, radio and television material that in the Internet age makes it possible to expose these lies in a short time, but because a large part of his constituency functions “in an information bubble” ”, then this way of telling proves to be effective.
Shortly after his return to Poland in July 2021, he said at one of the first public meetings with his supporters that Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz had prepared a program similar to 500 plus, but had not implemented it because the PO lost the election. publicly claimed that his formation left such huge financial reserves in the budget that, after returning to power, PiS was able to “give away” money as part of numerous social programs.
He repeats these lies, even though even among his rank and file, somewhere in the back of his mind, he should find a video of Finance Minister Jan Vincent Rostowski’s statement from election night in 2015, who emphatically said “there is no money and there is no will not are.”
Tusk’s lies about the PiS government’s cooperation with Russia and Putin sound irrational, especially since the Russian aggression against Ukraine, but they continue to be repeated, even though even those who “instructed” Tusk believe it to be the exact opposite, and the actions of Prime Minister Morawiecki’s government were even crucial in forming a coalition of more than 50 countries that will enable Ukraine to defend itself against Russian aggression.
Anyway, lies, which are a classic “Russian story”, are Tusk’s “specialization”, from scaring Poles with the consequences of the lack of coal or gas last winter, to scaring farmers with the consequences of imports of Ukrainian agricultural products, to blame only the Polish government for the increased inflation, although the whole world knows and writes about the fact that 2/3 of the causes of this phenomenon are Russian hybrid activities in the energy and agricultural commodity markets, and the country’s aggression against Ukraine.
A spiral of hatred
Just as Tusk unleashed a spiral of lies, so an even stronger spiral of hatred is shown by his supporters who participate in public gatherings without any embarrassment, which can be seen not only in the banners and shouted slogans, but also in physical aggression towards those which do not support Tusk support.
What it really looks like was described by the portal wPolityce.pl, which interviewed a member of “Solidarity” from Jelenia Góra, who took part in Tusk’s meeting in this city with a large representation of trade unionists.
He says the following about it: “I am a man almost 60 years old, in my life I have attended various manifestations, rallies, protests, but I have never seen such aggression in my life as at this meeting. They just spit on us, they called us the worst vulgar words, we were shown the middle finger all the time. The scary thing is that it was mostly the elderly.”
He continues: “After the rally I approached an old lady, about 70 years old, who was showing us the middle finger all the time and swearing. I asked her directly if you were living better under PO or now? What pension indexation have you done? received now or will you get 13 and 14?”
And adds:
there was a silence in response, and then this woman cried, it is terrible that these people are manipulated so horribly.
It’s really terrible, but everything indicates that Tusk will not give up this style of election campaigning because he has bet on extreme emotions, not on an election manifesto, and has stuck to it for almost two years now.
