I wonder if the media that supports Civic Platform can drag Donald Tusk to the position of Prime Minister this year. The weekly “Newsweek” yesterday took the first important step towards reaching the intended final, which would also meet the expectations of the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. The takeover of the Prime Minister’s portfolio by Donald Tusk is therefore not only an internal matter for Poland. Therefore, the weekly opinion of the Ringier Axel Springer Polska concern without delay, a few months before the elections to the Polish Parliament, in which the fate of his aspirations is at stake, leaves no doubt by the leader of the PO for to wear like an irreplaceable politician. Because of its universality. This is fully reflected in the title of one of the lyrics: – “Donald Tusk showed the face of a leader in times of war and peace.”
I was very curious how the head of the PO earned the term “war leader”. Somehow I did not notice the active activity of the PO chairman in connection with the war in Ukraine. Even in a small piece, let’s call it – spiritual involvement in some war threads around. For example, about Russia or, for example, Germany’s abstinence from military aid to Ukraine.
Fortunately, I found the answer in the elaboration of the aforementioned text from “Neesweek”, where the creed of “a leader in wartime” is quoted. It sounds something like this:
“There is a war just over the border, we border Russia – we need to talk seriously about what to do today, from the first hours of the civil war. This is not the time to indulge in jokes, innuendo, innuendo. It is necessary to say unequivocally and directly what needs to be done in Poland to make it an efficient state again, deeply rooted in the community of the West. We cannot condemn her to loneliness. Anyone who today, when a civil war breaks out in Russia, declares a civil war against the European Union and the West, raises his hand against the most vital interests of our fatherland.
The ‘war’ tasks thus outlined may have been supplemented by the future Prime Minister Donald Tusk with a critical remark to the current government, which is unable to shoulder the burden, or rather the responsibility, in such an unusual situation:
“If Poland were ruled by responsible people, the whole world would stand in solidarity with us today, all the leaders of the free world would talk to Warsaw.”
Despite all the sympathy for President Donald Tusk, as well as the acknowledgment of the insight of the weekly “Newsweek” and most of its authors who publish in it, I would like to point out that the appointment of the PO leader as wartime leader may be a major defects. At the same time, it is difficult for the nominee himself, because the author, or even the author, has truly noble intentions. Well, Donald Tusk has not accurately established what happened in Russia over the past day. It is not known on what grounds he interpreted the behavior of Yevgeny Prigozhin, which had the characteristics of a rebellion of a typical mercenary soldier, as the beginning of the civil war in Russia. I’m sorry to say this, but such a diagnosis makes a mockery of judgment. At least as far as a correct judgment is concerned.
Donald Tusk’s second statement, which argues the lack of accountability of those currently in power, also points to the lack of accountability of the president himself, who strives for the highest positions in the country. Because many leaders – more precisely, heads of state – of the free world called Warsaw to the office of President Andrzej Duda.
