Bogusław Wojtas, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Jelenia Góra region of NSZZ “Solidarność”, reports in an interview with the portal wPolityce.pl on the course of the protest of the trade unionists of “Solidarity” at Donald’s meeting Tusk in Jelenia Gora.
Bogusław Wojtas refers to the words of Donald Tusk, who said at his meeting that “the real ‘Solidarity’ is when it protests against the bad government”
If I had to compare the governments of PO-PSL and the current PiS, I would give 10 to PiS and 0 to PO-PSL on a scale of 1 to 10. We, as “Solidarity”, do not protest against any authority , we are only protesting because we are afraid, we are afraid that if PO comes to power. This could lead to the closure of the Turów mine, and with it the closure of the entire Turów complex, ie the power plant. This is why we showed up at Donald Tusk’s meeting
– says the deputy chairman of the regional council of Jelenia Góra of NSZZ “Solidarity”.
The leading PO politician, Rafał Trzaskowski, stated that since there is a judgment of the CJEU, the mines must be closed. For us, it was one of the first signs that if they were in power, the mine might already be closed. Our visit to Jelenia Góra was not intended to express satisfaction or dissatisfaction with this or that party, it was about defending our jobs. As Solidarity, we cannot allow some 50,000 to 60,000 jobs, because it is not only about the Turów mine and power plant itself, but also about cooperating companies
he adds.
Bogusław Wojtas emphasizes that the trade unionists associated with the Turów mine do not represent any party.
They call us “PiS Militia”, “PiS Outhouse”. Opponents of PiS define us differently. Let them call us what they will, but we are not acting on anyone’s behalf and we will not act. We are independent
– say.
“Today they accuse us of not respecting the anthem of ‘Solidarity’. It’s not true”
The deputy chairman of the board of directors of the region Jelenia Góra of NSZZ “Solidarity” refers to a situation that aroused many emotions – it is about the buzzing and use of sirens by protesting trade unionists at a time when participants of Donald’s rally Tusk sang the Polish national anthem.
The national anthem is something unique in each country. This anthem should be played for special circumstances such as a state, church, and not at political gatherings. I know that all groups want to show their patriotism and sing the national anthem. In a gathering situation, when it’s loud and when someone is just singing the national anthem a cappella – because if we command “to the national anthem!” would hear, we would certainly respect our national anthem and not boo. It wasn’t until I looked at the big screens that I realized that the rally participants were singing the national anthem, I silenced our entire group and from the second verse we sang the national anthem together, but the “TVN media” left it not seeing . Today they accuse us of not respecting the national anthem. It’s not true. We even wanted to voice the third verse of the national anthem, but most likely the other side can’t remember
– underlined.
Bogusław Wojtas reports that supporters of Donald Tusk behaved very aggressively towards the protest participants from the meeting.
I am a man closer to 60, in my life I have attended several manifestations, rallies, protests, etc. However, I have never seen so much hatred and aggression as at this meeting. It just spat on us. They called us “ch…”, “fuck…”, “to…” etc. We were shown the middle finger all the time. They tried to provoke us, but our security services are so professionally trained that we controlled our group. The scary thing is that it was mostly older people
– say. He also shares his personal protest experience.
At the end of our action, when the emotions subsided, I approached an older woman, maybe 70 years old, who constantly showed us the middle finger and cursed, and I directly asked her: “Was life better under PO or now? Which pension indexation have you now received, will you get ‘thirteen’ and ‘fourteen’?” She told me she got it. I asked what pension indexation she had under PO’s administration. There was a silence in reply. I told the lady that I was sorry, because maybe she was once on our side, she defended the values we defend, jobs, maybe she was even a member of “Solidarity”, and today she is in such a place. The woman then cried. It’s appalling that these people are being manipulated like this
he makes clear.
