The leaders of the United Right – led by PiS president Jarosław Kaczyński – will speak at a meeting in Bogatynia in Lower Silesia on Saturday about threats to the Polish state and Polish sovereignty in the context of problems with the energy complex in Turów.
Originally, the convention of the Law and Justice program was to be held in Łódź. However, new PiS chief of staff Joachim Brudziński announced on Monday that the convention has been moved to Lower Silesia in a modified format. On Tuesday he announced it would take place in Bogatynia, where the Turów mine is located.
Turn based case
We decided to organize our closest convention – not so much a convention as it should be called a rally – where there is a real problem. Where people expect help from politicians, for example in Bogatynia, where the Turów mine is located. The one about which PO politicians said: “yes, it has to be closed” under the dictate of a judge of the CJEU, namely one of the Brussels officials
– said Brudziński on TVP Info on Tuesday.
PiS spokesman Rafał Bochenek admitted on Friday that his formation went to Turów to meet with residents of the entire region.
This place – the mine and power plant in Turów is a place where the current problems of the entire Polish state are at the center – problems that concern our energy security, our sovereignty, but also the standard of living and quality of life of Polish citizens
he said.
A number of actions have been taken for quite some time – be it at the level of the European Union by various, extremely radical organisations, institutions, politicians, but it turns out that the Polish courts have been trying for some time to find this mining complex energy sector and to ensure that Poland’s energy security is largely at risk
PiS spokesperson said.
Government spokesman Piotr Müller spoke similarly about the meeting.
This will be one of the motives and an important thing i.e. defending this mine against the actions of the European Union and activists mainly paid from western and sometimes eastern directions to block this power plant
– he said.
This is a symbolic place for how Poland should function, i.e. Poland should defend its interests, not succumb to pressure from other countries, even if they are countries of the European Union
Muller said.
We defended the mines, we defended the power plants. By doing so, we have ensured the security of Poland
he stressed.
Not just PiS
When asked if all leaders of the United Right parties will be present at Saturday’s meeting, he replied:
This is the plan for the leaders of the coalition groups to appear at the event tomorrow, led by the leader of the entire camp, Mr. Jarosław Kaczyński.
In addition to PiS, the United Right also includes Sovereign Poland, led by Zbigniew Ziobro, the Republican Party led by MEP Adam Bielan, and OdNowa RP, led by Deputy Minister of National Defense Marcin Ociepa.
Also on Turów, although in the context of the decision of the Provincial Administrative Court in Warsaw, which suspended the implementation of the environmental decree regarding the coal mining concession for the mine in Turów after 2026, the president of PiS, Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński, spoke on Thursday.
There are nine similar power plants around (Turów), only partly in the Czech Republic, partly in Germany, and somehow there are no problems. The point is to prevent us from having a very fast, good development. Especially if we take into account very difficult circumstances, major crises, because if they had not happened, we would certainly be a few steps further today
Kaczynski said. According to him, “not everyone likes it”.
May 31 The Provincial Administrative Court in Warsaw suspended the implementation of the environmental decree regarding the coal mining concession for the Turów mine after 2026. As the court emphasized, the decree does not suspend the operation of the Turów mine. Complaints against the environmental decree were submitted by Frank Bold Foundation, Greenpeace and EKO-UNIA Ecological Association, among others.
The Minister of Climate and Environment Anna Moscow informed about the filing of a complaint against the decision of the Provincial Administrative Court by GDOŚ. PGE GiEK also filed a complaint; The National Public Prosecutor’s Office also informed about merging the case with the administrative court and submitting its own complaint.
Criticism of the WSA’s decision
Prime Minister Morawiecki called the decision of the Provincial Administrative Court “lawlessness and a clear blow to Polish interests”. The head of NSZZ “Solidarność”, Piotr Duda, also considered the decision of the Provincial Administrative Court regarding the mine in Turów as outrageous.
In short: hands off Turow
he stressed.
We will stop the stupid decision, we don’t respect it
– added.
