I am surprised that such a person who wears the Polish emblem on his chest takes a decision that not only affects the energy security of our country, but also threatens the entire economy and all citizens – says Wojciech Dąbrowski, the president of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna , in an interview with the website wGospodarce.pl.
Agnieszka Łakoma: Were you surprised by yesterday’s “judgment on the Turów mine”, which was handed down by the Provincial Administrative Court in Warsaw? Let me remind you that the court ruled that the mine was harmful to the environment
Wojciech Dabrowski: This decision is surprising, although after what the CJEU did two years ago, it shouldn’t be surprising. We now have a second attempt to liquidate the mine and of course the power plant. In my opinion, this is an anti-Polish and strictly political decision taken individually by a judge of the Provincial Administrative Court. And I am amazed that such a person who wears the Polish emblem on his chest makes a decision that not only affects the energy security of our country, but also threatens the entire economy and all citizens.

– ONLY HERE. The Provincial Administrative Court agrees with ecologists’ complaints about Turów! Zalewska: There is no content, there are emotions. We have to be on Turow’s side
– OUR SUBJECT. The judge who wants to block the investment in Turów is a well-known activist from “Iustitia”
These are very strong words. But for the organizations that filed the lawsuit, namely Greenpeac and the Frank Bold Foundation, the issue of energy security seems secondary. What counts above all is the protection of the environment.
Unfortunately it is. But we are certainly not giving up. We must not succumb to the dictates of these organizations or other climate activists from abroad, who are said to be financed with Russian money. Closing the mine and with it the power station would have enormous economic and social consequences. The power plant covers 7 percent. our country’s demand for electricity, it also provides the entire region with heat. I cannot imagine a situation where millions of people in the country are left without power because of one sentence. And I assure you we will never let that happen.

You can now appeal to the Supreme Administrative Court. What if he shares the activists’ arguments? Aren’t you afraid of that?
NO. We promised last year that we would defend the Turów mine and power plant, and this is the most important thing for us. We certainly keep our word. Regardless of the decisions of one or the other court, we will close neither the mine nor the power plant. For us, the most important thing is security of energy supply, and without Turów there is no security. The PGE Group is investing huge sums in the energy transformation to replace conventional sources with renewable sources after the end of coal mining – in the case of Turów we assume that it will be 2044. But until then, the Turów complex must function to ensure Poland’s energy security.
