The councilor presented a model by law in Mislata this Thursday, together with mayor Carlos Fernández Bielsa and Rubén Alfaro, president of the Federation of Municipalities and Provinces of Valencia, and twenty mayors from the entire Valencian Community.

During the Bravo speech, local companies “Sufficient skills and abilities to be at the forefront of eradicating prostitution through municipal ordinances, a very powerful tool to mark the difference between municipalities that protect the dignity of all people and those that renounce ours to their shame.

In this sense, he gave examples of the cases of Albal and Quart de Poblet, which “leaded in the approval of anti-slavery laws”, and cited the “Alicante City Council’s making women responsible for their own situation and depriving them of a life worthy of their rights, without realizing that it is prostitution and an unequal and unjust system.” leaving”.

The council member reminded that the scientific studies conducted by the Forum revealed that there are between 10,000 and 13,000 women in prostitution in three provinces. “If the offer is this big, it’s because there are men willing to pay for it. That’s the only way to understand that 20% of Valencian men over 18 accept that -1 out of every 5 people paid. had sex at some point in their life” said.

fine of up to 3,000 euros

The anti-slavery regulation model offered to all municipalities of the Community of Valencia considers the prohibition of prostitution demand in its articles. serious crimeand a fine of up to 1,500 euros.

In addition, if this claim is made less than 200 meters from a training centerwhere children flock to or where a festival or sporting event is celebrated very serious crime and a fine of up to 3,000 euros. Likewise, those who cooperate as intermediaries (pimps) with those who demand paid sex or who warn against the presence of law enforcement may be penalized.

On the other hand, it also bans advertisements promoting the consumption of prostitution, which it considers a minor infringement, and imposes fines of up to 750 euros. In this case, both the person who financially carries out the advertising action (such as handing out brochures) and the advertiser will be responsible.

An important part of the model regulation recognizes women who engage in prostitution as victims of gender-based violence. Therefore, prostitutes will not be punished in any way and they will develop aid policies to get them out of this situation.

In this sense, the model regulation provides for the approval of comprehensive municipal action plans that include measures to ensure that women in prostitution have access to services and resources that allow them to exit the prostitution system. This plan will include social, labor, education and housing support actions.

According to Bravo, “we are the first autonomous community to introduce a model of anti-slavery regulation for municipalities, making us a benchmark for other regions committed to equality between women and men and the elimination of all forms of gender violence, including the purchase of women’s bodies”.

The councilor announced that he would continue to “request a Comprehensive Law on the Abolition of Prostitution from the Spanish Government”. However, “we will not sit idly by from the Consell del Botànic because we have already initiated the amendment law to the Act of Demonstrations in the Community of Valencia, which is now in public hearing”.

This rule includes sanctions from organizations that allow or promote prostitution, prohibition of advertisements that promote or encourage prostitution or any form of sexual exploitation, and administrative sanction of solicitation of prostitution in public places and workplaces.
