“Neutralizing part of the harmful message of the new media is precisely maneuvering for sovereignty” – said Prof. Andrzej Zybertowicz on Polish Radio 24.
Sovereignty need not be an integral part of security
said Zybertowicz.
The professor argued that it is possible to imagine a “dependent political organism” part of a larger empire that can feel safe and prosperous in a situation of subordination.
Not all people are naturally self-reliant. Some people feel good in subordination
he said.
A network of global dependencies
Prof. Andrzej Zybertowicz responded to the question of whether Poland is “sovereign or dependent”:
Poland is a country trying to maneuver in a dense network of global financial, economic and cultural dependencies.
The scientist also drew attention to the importance of new media and their impact on Polish youth.
Polish youth, for example, are strongly influenced by new media, which are controlled by the algorithms of major economic entities. To neutralize part of this media’s harmful message is to maneuver for sovereignty
– said Andrzej Zybertowicz.
