Prague police spokesman Jan Danek said law enforcement found a Russian source in spreading disinformation about the death of Czech presidential candidate Petr Pavel, who would later become head of state, during the winter 2023 presidential election. The post writes about it Seznam Zpravy.
“The Prague police criminals from the anti-extremism and counter-terrorism department investigated the incident and found that the traces … were found in Russia,” he said.
Danek added that the person responsible for spreading the false information was not found and the case was adjourned.
The portal explains that a letter about the alleged death of Pavel from a heart attack was sent via Russian Yandex at the end of January this year. It contained a false quote from the presidential candidate’s press secretary.
