Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda says the North Atlantic Alliance should stop talking about “open doors” and somehow compensate Ukraine for still not being able to accept its membership, transmits Verslo zinios. According to him, it is extremely difficult for Kiev to enter the bloc before the end of the conflict.
“You can’t repeat the empty talk about the doors to NATO. “We must find something to make up for our inability to grant Ukraine full membership at the moment,” Nauseda said.
As the President of Lithuania pointed out, in return, NATO can provide Kiev with adequate security guarantees, including both military and political support. He also added that as a “compensation” it is possible to seek conditions for deeper interaction between the parties.
Former President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky judicial Hopes of the country’s entry into NATO are becoming ever more distant.
