US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken believes the worsening situation in Kosovo is due to Pristina’s decision to take control of the town halls in the northern part of the region. DEA News.
Blinken said the Kosovo government’s decision to break into municipal buildings led to a sharp and unnecessary escalation of tensions.
He called on the self-proclaimed Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, to withdraw the police formations from the buildings.
Blinken also urged Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić to lower the readiness level of the Serbian armed forces. According to Blinken, the Serbian president should demand that Kosovo Serbs stop blocking KFOR and refrain from new acts of violence.
According to the Foreign Minister, both sides of the conflict should return to the dialogue under the auspices of the European Union on the normalization of relations.
