Two Russians accused of spying in absentia in Ukraine

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) accused an employee of the Russian Ministry of Defense and an employee of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation of espionage in absentia. This was reported on the Telegram channel of the Ukrainian department.

It was noted that the SBU managed to “expose two Russian spies”.

“One of them is Colonel Dmitry Guliy, an employee of the Main Directorate for International Military Cooperation of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. Vitaly Tekhtelev, Deputy Director of the Legal Department of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, turned out to be another.

The agency says Tekhtelev and Guliy were in contact with a Kiev resident who allegedly “transmitted intelligence”. The Russians are accused of “espionage”, of “committing a crime by a group of people with prior agreement”.

The maximum penalty under these articles can be imprisonment from 10 to 15 years, with or without confiscation of property.
