The statement of the US ambassador on the Russian Influence Commission evokes serious emotions among representatives of the Polish political scene. Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz made critical references to Marek Brzezinski’s performance.
On TVN24, the US ambassador welcomed President Andrzej Duda’s decision to refer the bill to the Constitutional Tribunal for review.
These words enraged Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz from Civic Platform.
The former head of the Home Office in Donald Tusk’s government argues that the president’s decision to sign the bill means the creation of a “court for the opposition”.
“Pretend You Care”
He also claims that Brzezinski would have made a better decision in the given situation if he had remained silent. He calls his words “pretending to care about democracy.”
amb. US M. Brzeziński: “We fully appreciate and understand why President Duda has referred this bill to the Constitutional Tribunal.” It was not understood that the signing meant the creation of a kaphof for the opposition. It is better to remain silent than to pretend to care about democracy.
