Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law allowing the constituent entities of the Russian Federation to submit proposals to the upper house of parliament to recall their state officials’ senators. The relevant document is officially published. web portal legal information.
Under the new norms, state officials of the region that delegated powers to the senator will have the right to submit proposals to the Federation Council to recall that senator before the end of his term.
It has been announced that if the submission is refused, the regional authorities can send it again after six months at the latest. It is also noted that no application for withdrawal can be made within one year of the senator’s mandate or less than three months before its expiration.
The law also prohibits the appointment of persons involved in the work of prohibited organizations to the post of senators.
It was previously reported that the State Duma at the plenary session accepted a law regulating the procedure for carrying out checks on the reliability and completeness of information provided by the authorities.
