Moldovan President Maia Sandu proposed to the government to create a national center to combat “propaganda”. The head of state said this at a May 29 briefing, reports DEA News.
Sandu stated that the center, called Patriot, will coordinate the activities of government agencies. The related bill will be submitted to the Parliament in the coming weeks.
According to the president, the center will have to coordinate the activities of the state in the field of national security, that is, to combat “propaganda” that poses a direct threat to Moldova’s security.
The Moldovan leader did not provide evidence, while accusing Russia of spreading “propaganda”, which allegedly exerts pressure on information on the people of the republic.
A number of Russian media outlets in Moldova have already been banned. In April, the country’s Information and Security Service (ISS) ordered to obstruct Sites that “have online content that spreads false information in an area that affects national security.” In particular, the portals politnavigator.net, politnavigator.news, news-front.info were banned.
