Deputy Minister Arkadiusz Mularczyk sent letters to MPs in the Bundestag with information about Polish losses and reparations to Poland. The case was handled by Prof. Jerzy Kranz, who argues that the loss report … is worthless.
In response to the actions of Deputy Minister Mularczyk, Kranz gave an interview to the German media. Former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to Germany spoke to dw.com. In the conversation he tried to discredit the actions of the Polish side.
It’s hard to think of anything, because this is quite a hopeless project, rather aimed at voters in Poland. There are tons of pictures that are hard to question. In terms of content, however, this report is worthless from a methodological and scientific point of view
Kranz told dw.com.
It completely ignores the legal analysis and the political analysis is very bad. So there is little chance of dialogue. At the moment we can only talk about the fate of the surviving victims of National Socialism in Poland. Germany offers these people some help in different countries, but it looks a little different each time
– we read in the interview.
Benefits from Germany
However, this is not the end of his story. The former ambassador is also trying to convince people who were injured during the war by the Germans, who accepted scandalously low benefits through the Polish-German Reconciliation Foundation, to refrain from further claims in this way.
Victims from Poland who have already received benefits through the Polish-German Reconciliation Foundation waived their individual claims. But nothing prevents the German side from making a gesture and allocating an amount to the already small, probably only a few thousand, victims of Nazism living in Poland, to cover part of the costs of sanatorium stays, surgeries, medicines or orthopedic equipment. through some Polish foundation
– convinces Jerry Kranz.
Kranz then attacks the Polish government. He talks about the lack of help for the living victims of German crimes.
If the current government would like to help these people, although there is no visible movement in that direction, it should remember that it takes two to dance and create a good atmosphere. But the climate has been corrupted by this government
– we are reading.
Kranz also tries to justify the German side. He claims that as far as Germany’s response is concerned, “there would be some readiness”, but … the Polish government and the atmosphere “as it is now” are of course to blame.
As I hear, there would be a certain readiness for such actions on the German side. But not in the atmosphere it is now. We’ll see what happens after the election. This would be important in a symbolic sense and serve the interests of both Poland and Germany. And it wouldn’t require a major political or financial effort
– says Prof. Crane.
As you can see, Deputy Minister Mularczyk’s actions should hurt circles that oppose Poland seeking justice for German crimes committed during World War II. In this context, it is not surprising that efforts have been made to find a media response to the actions of the Polish side so quickly.
