On the occasion of Mother’s Day on Friday, the Ministry of Family and Social Policy reminds you of a number of benefits that mothers and fathers can use. “The pro-family policy is not just the family benefit 500+. They are also a number of other tools that have restored the dignity of families in Poland,” the head of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg, told PAP.
A number of programs to support families
According to data provided to PAP by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, parents with dependent children can currently benefit from state aid in the form of a number of benefits.
The first is the parental benefit of the program “Rodzina 500+” in the amount of PLN 500 per child up to 18 years. This benefit is independent of family income. From 1 January 2024, the childcare allowance will be increased to PLN 800 per child per month.
The pro-family policy isn’t just the 500+ benefit that has been in place since April 2016. They are also a number of other instruments that have restored the dignity of families in Poland. The Good Start Program, Family Capital Capital, co-financing for childcare or Toddler Plus, they all complement each other

In addition – as communicated by the Ministry – children from 7 to 20 years old who are studying at school – and in the case of disabled children up to 24 years old – are granted the “Good start” allowance in the amount of PLN 300 once per child associated with the start of the school year, regardless of family income.
Parents with dependent children aged 12 to 35 months are also entitled to the “Family care capital” benefit, which is primarily intended to partially cover the expenses for the care of the second and subsequent children. The amount of the benefit is 12,000. zloty. Parents choose whether they want to receive PLN 1,000 per month for one year or PLN 500 per month for two years.

Family and Baby Benefits
Most of the programs we run are universal and aimed at all children. However, we do not forget the families who have a lower income and who especially need support from the government. These families can include for a child benefit and different types of benefits – for raising a child in a large family, for education and rehabilitation of a disabled child or an allowance for starting a school year

She added that until the child turns 18 or completes school education (however, no longer than the age of 21 or the age of 24 if the child continues their education at school or university and holds a certificate) of moderate or significant degree). disability), is entitled to child benefit.
The condition for obtaining the right to child benefit is meeting the income criterion, which is PLN 674 per month per person in the family or PLN 764 if the family member is a disabled child. This does not mean that people who exceed this threshold are not entitled to the benefit. In their case, the so-called “zloty for zloty” mechanism.
Child benefit is PLN 95 per month for a child up to the age of 5, PLN 124 for a child aged 5 to 18 and PLN 135 for a child aged 18 to 24.
Persons who have been granted the right to child benefit can also apply for a supplement. These are: a one-time delivery fee of PLN 1,000; allowance for raising a child in a large family in the amount of PLN 95 per month; single-parent supplement of PLN 193 per child per month, but no more than PLN 386 for all children (in the case of disabled children, the amount of the supplement is increased by PLN 80); childcare allowance during the period of parental leave of PLN 400 per month; allowance for education and rehabilitation of a disabled child of PLN 90 per month for a child up to 5 years old or PLN 110 per month for a child between 5 and 24 years old; an allowance for the beginning of the school year in the amount of PLN 100 per child once per school year and an allowance for the start of education by a child outside the place of residence in the amount of PLN 113 per month for the child’s stay in the city where the school is established, or PLN 69 per month in connection with the child’s arrival at school.
In addition, parents in families where the income per person does not exceed PLN 1,922 net are entitled to the so-called becikowe, ie a one-off allowance of PLN 1,000 for the birth of a child.
On the other hand, persons who do not receive a maternity allowance or maternity allowance, regardless of their income, are entitled to a parental allowance of PLN 1,000 per month for one year (52 weeks) after the birth of a child, and in the case of a multiple birth, this period may be extended to 71 weeks.
Alimony changes
The Minister of Family and Social Policy announced that this year there will also be changes to the payment from the Maintenance Fund.
As of October 1, the amount of the income criterion entitling to this form of support will increase from PLN 900 to PLN 1,209

Families with at least three children can use the Large Family Card, a system of discounts and extra rights. The Large Family Card functions in both public institutions and private companies.
The supplement for parents who have brought up at least four children is the supplementary parental benefit, also known as the “Mama 4 plus” benefit. It is aimed at women and men over the age of 60. The amount of the benefit is equal to the guaranteed minimum retirement pension. This amount is received by people who do not receive an old-age or disability pension and do not have an income that ensures the necessary means of subsistence.
