Today it is time for us, as Poles and the political class, to stand resolutely on the side of the interests of the Republic of Poland and, on the basis of proper analysis, to implement jointly, above division, the security policy – said the head of the President’s Office of International Policy Marcin Przydacz on Thursday.
Security policies across divisions
Przydacz gave a speech on Thursday at one of the panels of the Defense Day conference, organized by the Defense 24 portal. The panel, in which the participants listened to the speech of the head of BPM, was devoted to the issue of cooperation between political divisions in the field of safety.
The head of the BPM stressed the importance of unity in domestic and international politics; as an example, he pointed to the unanimous action of EU countries in imposing sanctions on Russia following the aggression against Ukraine.
It was such a tangible result of unity – we didn’t get bogged down in internal discussions about how to respond
– he said.
Today is the time for all of us, as Poles, as a political class from left to right, to always stand resolutely on the side of the interests of the Republic of Poland; based on the right strategy and right analysis, they executed this security and eastern policy the way we do it
said the head of BPM.
Strengthen your own defense capabilities
As one of the most important pillars of the security policy, he pointed to the strengthening of our own defense capabilities, in accordance with the principles of the North Atlantic Treaty.
We are carrying it out, President Andrzej Duda as Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, in good cooperation with the government. I don’t think anyone can fault this, a lot has happened in recent years
said Przydacz.
Strengthen alliances
The second pillar, he said, is strengthening alliances, especially with “key allies” – such as the US or Britain, but also with allies from the Central and Eastern Europe region.
It is clear that we have closer security interests with Lithuania, Slovakia or Romania, because we share common threats
he assessed.
Hence the two parallel concepts of regional cooperation – on the one hand, the Bucharest Nine, which also build tools in NATO’s internal discussion; the second major concept is the Three Seas Initiative
– he said, pointing out that the latter initiative works for common security, including in the field of infrastructure.
Support
The third pillar, according to Przydacz, is “support for those who actively fight for their independence, but also actively fight to preserve the world on the basis of the principles we want to see it”.
Let us not forget that this support to Ukraine is not only due to our sympathy or some form of sympathy, but also in our far-reaching interest
– emphasized the head of BPM.
In the spirit of working across divisions, this is also a call to all of us – pundits, the political class, diplomats – to try to analyze reality correctly, to draw specific conclusions favorable to Polish state interests, to to try mutual arguments and to work together for the good of Poland
Przydacz appealed.
