We don’t need to have a good opinion of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow (MOCAK), especially since Anna Maria Potocka is in charge there, who wanted to turn the Kossak villa in our historic capital into a feminist institution, but no cultural institution so mean to recite her advice from Janusz Palikot. And that’s what the long-time mayor of Krakow, Jacek Majchrowski, did.
There is a chance to wash away this blemish, as the deputy chairman of the Krakow City Council, Michał Drewnicki (PiS), is organizing a popular uprising, which is manifested, among other things, in collecting signatures for the relevant petition.

It is not worth citing here the figure of the former politician, his primitive happenings with a rubber penis in his hand, insulting President Lech Kaczyński, recent promotion of alcohol, lowering the level of public debate to the level of soil and seaweed, nor is it worth citing Anna Maria Potocka’s list of merits for anti-culture or watering Mayor Majchrowski’s urban apathy. It is impossible to remove them all, because they are understaffed, because, contrary to appearances, the Platform and the Left rule in large parts of power (local governments precisely) in Poland, but let’s see some remnants of decency retain. Artists have already dazzled with vaginas (Monika Strzępka) and blasphemies (Jan Klata), strip clubs have already been driven out of Krakow’s old town with difficulty, everything cannot be solved with such a level of elites, but, for God’s sake, crossing a border makes us electrify. Let the appointment of Palikot to any position related to culture, even contemporary, trigger a reflex of defiance, especially since Councilor Drewnicki has presented a simple path here and you only have to sign the petition.
Today it is impossible to imitate the noble Athenian democracy in everything, it is impossible to write on the shells the name of a politician who will be expelled from the country for ten years, but at least you can deprive him – and quite spectacularly – of his symbolic position to show some of his future followers that we are not too fond of crude political numbers in Poland.
