The Armenian opposition will take to street demonstrations in connection with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s statement on the recognition of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, including Nagorno-Karabakh. Saghatelyan suggested that a tripartite meeting will be held in Moscow on May 25 with the participation of Pashinyan, Presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia, Ilham Aliyev and Vladimir Putin, and then negotiations will begin in Chisinau and Brussels.
“And he will try to sign a surrender document in October. We have five or six months to prevent that. And yes, we are planning protests, acts of disobedience,” Saghatelyan said.
He added that under the current conditions, the Armenian people had no choice but to rebel against the current administration of the country.
At the end of September 2020, fighting resumed in Nagorno-Karabakh, which became a continuation of the conflict that began in 1988. A new conflict also caused casualties among the civilian population.
After several ceasefire attempts, the heads of state of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan adopted a joint declaration on the ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh from 10 November 2022. Russian peacekeepers were sent to the Karabakh region.
According to the agreement, Aghdam region on November 20, Kelbajar region on November 15 and Lachin region on December 1 came under the control of Azerbaijan.
