Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki made a mistake in all major EU decisions; As a result of the Prime Minister’s agreement to the EU conditionality mechanism and KPO, Poland will gradually lose its sovereignty, Zbigniew Ziobro, the Minister of Justice and Head of Sovereign Poland, said in an interview for Do Rzeczy.
Why Ziobro’s party changed its name
In an interview for Do Rzeczy weekly, Ziobro talks about the reasons for changing the name of his party from Solidarna Polska to Sovereign Poland. As he emphasizes, the issue of defending sovereignty plays a key role today in connection with “increasing blackmail and EU interference in Polish affairs”.
We did not invent sovereignty today. We’ve been fighting for it for years. In the December 2020 resolution, we warned that as a result of the Prime Minister’s assent to the EU conditionality mechanism and KPO, Poland would gradually lose its sovereignty. This, and not some personal ambition, is what we are discussing in government. Time is a measure of the accuracy of diagnoses. It shows who was right: us or the prime minister who underestimated the threat to Poland from the conditionality mechanism and KPO. The government’s concessions to the EU lead to good results or to further humiliation?
said the Minister of Justice.
No invitation for PiS politicians to the convention
When asked why Solidarna Polska did not invite PiS politicians to its convention, Ziobro replied that his formation was not invited to all PiS conventions.
We met each other at the Congress to avoid unnecessary clashes. It would be difficult to contain the emotions of 2,000 people. people as a PiS representative praised the Prime Minister’s European strategy, which we could not rule out. We wanted to avoid any disputes and we wanted to focus on the clear message of the congress, ie on the German plans to build a single European state and the resulting threats.
he stressed.

Terlecki’s caustic tweet
Ziobro also referred to the tweet from Ryszard Terlecki, deputy chairman of the Sejm, about a small party and 1 percent. support.
Mr. Marshal was angry with our convention. Perhaps in this way he masked his own disappointment with the European policy of the Prime Minister, who was wrong about all major EU decisions. You can expect more from such a prominent politician as Ryszard Terlecki. For example, to justify the Prime Minister’s decision when he agreed to the draconian “Fit for 55” package, which – if we don’t withdraw it – will devastate the wallets of millions of Poles
– says the minister in an interview.
He pointed out that Bank Pekao SA calculated that Poland would pay almost PLN 2 trillion extra for it over the next 10 years.
Prime Minister Morawiecki will undoubtedly go down in history. As the one who alone, arbitrarily, without any consultation with the Council of Ministers, took a decision with decades of consequences. What about KPO? Where’s money? The end of the concessions is not yet in sight. So if the party with the supposedly 1% support had accurate diagnoses, and the Prime Minister had less than 1% support on major European issues. If I were in Ryszard Terlecki’s place, I wouldn’t be caustic
Ziobro added.

“United Right is a value
When asked whether he wants the project of the United Right to continue, Ziobro replies with the question whether there is a better alternative in the offing. He stressed that his party votes with PiS in an “overwhelming number of cases”. As he admitted, “it’s not pleasant at times, but politics requires pragmatism.”
Ziobro says that the SP has not set up its own parliamentary club, although – as he points out – that would be beneficial.
This happened because we think in terms of common goals and adhere to the coalition agreement. United Right is a value. Thanks to this camp, in which PiS is the largest coalition partner, we are changing Poland for the better and raising the standard of living of the Poles. We were able to cope with challenges such as the war in Ukraine
– added.
When asked about conversations about building collaborative lists with PiS, Ziobro admits there will be no breakthrough from PiS, delaying decision on collaborative lists.
At the same time, there are statements that do not make us optimistic about the will of our coalition partner. I do not consider the Prime Minister’s environment here. We know very well that Marshal Terlecki has been touring Poland for several months and has excluded us from the coalition during private meetings of PiS activists. That is what the participants in these meetings say, who have a different opinion. If we were clear about cooperation, we could phrase our demands differently. We will certainly not renounce our principles and we will not agree to a policy that little by little deprives Poland of its sovereignty. If we have to be in the Sejm it is right to make sure this is finally over and that is why we are a problem for those politicians in the ZP camp who do not want to admit their mistakes in relations with the EU and change the current policies be continued
Ziobro said.
