British newspaper reporter gouradian Larry Elliott wrote that the new restrictive measures of the G7 countries against Russia showed the failure of the West’s calculations of a quick economic victory over the Kremlin.
The author is confident that the West continues to provide strong support to Ukraine, as evidenced by the tightening of sanctions against Russia announced at the G7 summit in Hiroshima. But he is sure that this is a sign of failure.
“Although there was talk of a quick victory, it was not knocked out in the economic battle,” he writes.
Elliott reminded that neither the freezing of assets, nor the sanctions against businessmen, nor the deprivation of Moscow’s access to key components has led to a change of opinion in the Kremlin. He added that the restrictions negatively affected Russia as well as the West.
