An Italian missile destroyer with powerful armaments will soon arrive in Poland, which will strengthen the anti-aircraft and anti-missile defenses of the Polish coast, the head of the Ministry of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak said on Wednesday. He will be in Poland in a few days, he said.
The deputy prime minister visited Rome on Wednesday, where he met the defense minister of the Italian Republic, Guido Crosetto.
The topics of bilateral talks include – as reported by the Ministry of National Defense – military relations, including the modernization of the Polish army, the current security situation in the context of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, and issues of further assistance to this country.
Close cooperation
Defense ministers also discussed the agenda of the upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius.
We work closely with the Italian partner. Italian soldiers in Latvia serve side by side with Polish soldiers as part of NATO’s eFP. Polish soldiers serve in Sicily under the EU program, so this cooperation is very good. Last year there were Italian F-35s in Poland, we can expect them this year as well. This is the dimension of our cooperation
– said Minister Błaszczak, quoted in the Ministry’s information.
I am very pleased with the decision of the Italians, namely that an Italian missile destroyer with powerful anti-aircraft and anti-missile armament will soon arrive in Poland, which will strengthen the anti-aircraft and anti-missile defenses of the Polish coast. He will be in Poland in a few days
the minister said.
The Ministry of National Defense reported that during a visit to the Vatican, the head of the Ministry of Defense laid flowers at the tomb of St. John Paul II. The Polish delegation also took part in the Holy Mass for World Peace, which was celebrated in the Polish chapel in St. Peter’s. The minister also met with Polish scouts.
