In one of the last pre-campaign meetings with voters in the field, erroneously dubbed “an outing of the Civic Coalition club”, Donald Tuski vowed to try to ensure that women in politics were treated on an equal footing with men . In fact, most of what needs to be done in this area is in the platform itself.
It is important to me, also in this symbolic dimension, that women, including in politics, are treated on an equal footing with men. Hence the idea, which I will personally monitor, also here in Cracow in Lesser Poland, that there should be an equal number of ladies and gentlemen on the parliamentary lists, of the so-called sliders. If you’re first, you’re second. So that it has a practical expression, and not just for talking about it
– announced Donald Tusk.
In fact, the PO has no clear conscience in this matter and there is much to work on. There are only 7 women out of 20 men in the Civic Platform National Council. These are the ladies: Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, Ewa Kopacz, Izabela Leszczyna, Dorota Niedziela, Marzena Okła-Drewnowicz, Urszula Augustyn and Agnieszka Pomaska. There is no equality here.
When Donald Tusk returned to Poland from Brussels, Ewa Kopacz had to resign to return to the post of party leader. Otherwise, Donald Tusk would not have been able to take over as head of the PO.
The company also didn’t get on very well with another woman. For the presidential election in 2020, Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska had to give way to Rafał Trzaskowski. Shortly before the announcement of this decision, she would hear from colleagues.
And so, when the leader of the PO is just proclaiming equal rights, the conservative party fills the top positions with women. One woman, Beata Szydło, was the prime minister and head of the campaign of President Andrzej Duda. The head of the President’s Chancellery is a woman – Grażyna Ignaczak-Bandych. The second person in the country, ie the Chairman of the Sejm – Elżbieta Witek, comes from the PiS nomination. The flagship program of the United Right government, Family 500 plus, was introduced by a woman – Elżbieta Rafalska, today also a woman, Marlena Maląg, continues this work, and another woman – Barbara Socha, prepared a demographic strategy for Poland . The finance minister was Teresa Czerwińska and there is Magdalena Rzeczkowska, who is also a general. The head of BGK is a woman – Beata Daszyńska-Muzyczka, just like the head of ZUS – Gertruda Uścińska. There are enough women in government. There is Anna Moscow, Anna Schimdt, Anna Krupka, Izabela Antos, Anna Łukaszewska-Trzeciakowska, Olga Semeniuk-Patkowska and many others.
In fact, Donald Tusk has a lot going on in this matter.
