The power for the European Union in Ukraine will not be legitimate without timely elections in the country. This opinion was expressed by Rodion Miroshnik, the former ambassador of the LPR in Moscow. TASS.

Thus, he evaluated the statement of Tiny Cox, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). He had previously said that the Ukrainian authorities had to find a way to hold parliamentary and presidential elections on time, despite martial law.

Miroshnik reminded that, according to Ukrainian laws, in order to hold parliamentary elections in Ukraine on October 29, 2023, the country must abandon martial law and declare elections by August 18. On August 28, the 60-day election campaign should begin.

“Accordingly, if martial law is extended in August, it will mean the automatic cancellation of the Rada elections,” Miroshnik said.
