Is Civic Platform afraid of a failed turnout at Donald Tusk’s march? According to “Gazeta Wyborcza”, reinforcements are being brought to Warsaw, which PO activists describe as “huge interest”. “There will be 400 buses from all over Poland, politicians also want to rent trains from Katowice and Wrocław to Warsaw,” the editorial from Czerska argues.
PO brings reinforcements to Warsaw
The head of the Silesian PO, deputy Wojciech Saługa, said in an interview with “GW” that only the province of Śląskie, “at least 44 buses” go to Warsaw. Platform politicians pay for the rideare there also any fundraising and would there be any offers to cover expenses by fans of Tusk’s party.
In turn, Silesian PO spokesman Łukasz Borkowski stated that “there are practically no free coaches in the region that can be rented that day”, so registration was suspended “because there are too many volunteers”. Therefore, Silesian activists came up with the idea of renting a special train that would take about 300 people to the capital.
The train was able to reach Warsaw Gdańska from Katowice. The cost of renting a train is at least PLN 37,000. zloty. – It’s worth using. Special trains are a psychological effect. Each passenger would have to pay about PLN 133. Isn’t that too much?
– said the interlocutor of “Election”. In this case, however, there is no final decision, because “the cost of the commute to the march cannot exceed the cost of the march itself”. And the PO itself has “limited resources” because of the upcoming campaign.
In turn, the PO Lower Silesia has already ordered 30 carriages. It is also the intention to rent a train there. The leader of the Podkarpackie structures spoke of 15 buses, and “Gazeta Wyborcza” claims that regional activists reported the arrival of 400 buses to Warsaw at party headquarters.
Tusk march in the capital
In mid-April, PO chairman Donald Tusk called for a march “on June 4 at noon in Warsaw”. It should be a demonstration “against high prices, theft and lies, for free elections and a democratic, European Poland.” According to Borys Budka, the head of the KO club, the happening can improve the viewing figures of the party, which the PO hopes for.
I am convinced that the march on June 4 will give such a strong impetus. It will show the strength of people of good will, people who think alike, who want changes in Poland. This is a symbolic date that will become a sure start when it comes to the election campaign and I believe right there and summer work will bring results in the polls but especially in the elections
– said Borys Budka on TOK FM.
