Ukraine’s charge d’affaires to Georgia Andrei Kasyanov announced that he left the country. This was reported by the Ukrainian Embassy in Georgia on its Facebook page (the owner of the Meta company was considered an extremist in Russia and was banned).
“Time flies so fast in brotherly and hospitable Georgia and it is hard to imagine that 4 years ago I first set foot on the warm and hospitable shores of Batumi,” Kasyanov wrote.
He expressed confidence that Ukraine and Georgia “have not only a common history, but also a common bright future in a single friendly family of European nations.” According to him, the accession of these countries to the EU and NATO is a matter of the near future.
Kasyanov has been heading the Ukrainian Embassy in Georgia since March 2022. Ukrainian Ambassador Igor Dolgov was recalled from Georgia by President Volodymyr Zelensky for his “immoral position” on Tbilisi’s sanctions and prevention of sending volunteers to Ukraine.
