Indian Foreign Ministry denies Borrell’s statement about importing Indian petroleum products from Russian oil

The statement by the head of EU foreign affairs, Josep Borrell, that the EU may limit the import of Indian oil products derived from Russian oil, was rejected by Indian Foreign Minister Subramanyam Jaishankar. TASS advised Borrell to learn EU Council rules.

“Look at the EU Council rules, Russian oil is processed in third countries to a significant extent and is no longer considered Russian,” the prime minister said.

“I invite you to read EU Council Regulation 833/2014,” added the Indian representative. The document is about the EU’s restriction rules against Russia.

On the eve of Borrell did not exclude that the community could limit the import of Indian petroleum products from Russian oil. The purpose of the innovations is to tighten anti-Russian sanctions.
