Fumio Kishida, head of the Japanese government, said that the situation in Ukraine tends to be prolonged and therefore the G7 should unite to support the Kiev authorities. He said this in an interview with the TV channel. NHK.

“There are fears that the situation in Ukraine will continue for much longer. Therefore, this is exactly why I believe the G7 should once again show strong solidarity with Ukraine. Tough sanctions against Russia and strong support for Ukraine. We will continue to do this. I think it is important for us to convey this information.”

Answering a TV channel reporter’s question about whether Tokyo would expand arms supplies to Ukraine, Kishida noted that Japan provided significant humanitarian aid to Kiev. Kisida emphasized that first of all, such aid is related to the energy sector. In addition, Tokyo provided solid financial support to Ukraine. As for military support, the prime minister said Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party is now “in the phase of starting negotiations on this issue”. According to Kishida, “after careful discussion, Japan should systematize its ideas on expanding arms supplies to Ukraine”.
