“During the rule of PiS, we introduced such solutions that every piece of Polish land will be defended; we are determined to create more military units,” said Deputy Prime Minister, Chief of the Ministry of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak in Olsztyn on Tuesday.
“Gazeta Olsztyńska” Man of the Year
On Tuesday, the head of the Ministry of National Defense took part in the 7th Congress of the Future, where he was honored with the title of Man of the Year by “Gazeta Olsztyńska” – the main organizer of the Congress. The jury – awarded for the first time – praised him for “historic and unprecedented contribution to the security of Poland”.
Among other things, he congratulated the head of Mon on the award. Andrzej Śliwka, Secretary of State at the Ministry of State Assets, on Twitter.
During his speech, Błaszczak stressed that in order for Poland to develop, it must be safe.
A safe Poland must have a strong army
And to be safe, it must have a strong army
he said. In this regard, he pointed out that a large number of admissions to the Polish army are currently being registered.
This is a very good signal, because it shows how our compatriots approach defense
– assessed the minister.
As he noted, the government is rebuilding and building new military units. He mentioned cities such as Ostróda and Olecko. He also pointed out that in Warmia-Masuria, new units of the Polish army will be created to keep our country safe.
The head of the Ministry of National Defense also said that the Russian invasion of Ukraine showed that President Lech Kaczyński was right when he said that the Russian Empire brings evil and is dangerous to the nations living nearby.
Today we are in the North Atlantic Alliance, NATO soldiers, American soldiers are stationed in Warmińsko-Mazurskie province, they practice together with Polish soldiers. This is very important for ensuring the security of our homeland
– emphasized the head of the Ministry of National Defense.
According to Błaszczak, there is no doubt that the strength of the Polish army is the most important.
Last year, the largest number of new soldiers joined the Polish army after the suspension of compulsory military service
– said the Deputy Prime Minister.
“We are not waiting, we are strengthening the Polish army”
He also emphasized the role of modern armaments of the Polish army, pointing to the purchases of equipment, including K2 tanks, which will also be produced in our country.
We are not waiting, we are strengthening the Polish army, but we are also strengthening the Polish defense industry, so that Poland is strong, to build resilience
said the minister.
He also recalled that the first HIMARS launchers ordered in 2019 arrived in Poland on Monday.
“We will not give up a piece of Polish territory.”
Contrary to what happened before, during the rule of PiS we introduced such solutions that every piece of Polish land will be defended. We will not give up any piece of Polish territory. We will not return it because we are creating military units whose task is to defend the territory of the Republic of Poland. We place these units in the east of the country; it is this part of the territory of the Republic of Poland that should be most strongly reinforced by the presence of the Polish army
he stressed.
The head of the Ministry of National Defense assured that the government was determined to continue creating new military units. At the same time, he encouraged service in the Polish Army, WOT, as well as training with the army, as part of the Train with the Army campaign.
Highway S16
During the congress, Deputy Prime Minister Błaszczak said in an interview for “Gazeta Olsztyńska” that the S16 road will be constructed as a highway along its entire stretch for military and security reasons. This route has been referred to as the “communication backbone” of the region.
It deals with logistics, military transport and supplies for Polish, American and NATO military units
he pointed it out.
He added that the relevant decision adopted by the Council of Ministers will be referred to parliament. As he noted, the highway will be a boost to the economy and an important asset for tourism as it will facilitate arrivals in Warmia and Masuria.
According to the organizers, the debate related to the military and security is one of the main topics of the congress, which aims to seek development directions for the region and the country. During the Tuesday congress there will be 20 panels with the participation of experts, politicians, representatives of local governments, science and business (PAP) authors: Marcin Boguszewski, Agnieszka Libudzka, Rafał Białkowski
