“This is not a gift from the government. – said Donald Tusk in Krakow, referring to the announcement of increasing benefits under the “Family 500+” program.
The leader of the platform performed together with Rafał Trzaskowski at the meeting entitled “Here is the future”, which took place in Krakow.
We look around and are out of breath. This is really a beehive!
Tusk said at the start of the meeting.
We have a feeling that this will be a truly groundbreaking election. That it is about the same important issues as in 1989. This year we will determine our future for decades. Then and today it is about comparable values. Then we looked hopefully at the world of freedom. (…) I had the great honor of being Prime Minister for almost eight years. We spent hundreds of billions of zlotys, which we could invest in our place on earth, because we became part of Europe
he said.
You need to know a little about beekeeping to spot bees from drones. It is good that today we meet thousands of residents of Cracow and Małopolska
– added.
PiS proposals
Tusk then referred to President Jarosław Kaczyński’s proposal to increase the 500+ allowance to PLN 800.
It caught our attention, we discussed with Mayor Trzaskowski the proposals that appeared on Saturday and Sunday in the Piów hive. He wants to speak loud and clear with the president of PiS. Jarosław, I am checking you today against these pledges and slogans that you presented to the Poles a few dozen hours ago. The announcement of the conversion from 500 to 800 plus aroused the most emotions. I want to tell you very clearly, you don’t have to be a math genius to figure it out. Inflation, since the 500+ became a reality for a Polish family with children, meant that if we want to revalue the 500+ fairly (…), that’s more or less what we should be offering. This is not a gift from the government. After all, we all understand the truth that this money comes from taxes, not Kaczyński’s pocket. (…) It is the people who work who make up the billions that the state subsequently pays out
Tusk said.
Tusk sets conditions
He then suggested to Jarosław Kaczyński that they jointly take over the valorisation within the Family 500+ programme.
When I say here in Krakow today, we expected Kaczyński and PiS to bid on how much they would give. First of all, you have to give back what you take away every day because of high prices and inflation. Not just those who are beneficiaries of 500+. I will not allow KO to participate in an unreasonable, irresponsible and dangerous auction from Poland’s point of view. We preferred to wait for the proposal because we knew it would fail. I would like to explain to you and to all of Poland that it was very important to us that the valorization issue did not become an irresponsible election campaign. Therefore, I want to say that this PLN 800 (…) corresponds to what you have lost due to inflation and high prices. And to close the bidding on this matter. And this I check against Kaczyński. I suggest that we approve the 500+ valorisation as soon as possible and we do that before the elections. Mr President, if you really want to help Polish families, and do not want to play an election game, we can do it together in the Sejm, so that this valorisation of the benefit for Polish children becomes a reality on Children’s Day on 1 June
he said.
If we really want to compensate those who work hard, have no friends in PiS, no boards of trustees, Bielan doesn’t pay them from the research grant, and Ziobro from the Solidarity Fund doesn’t give them money, let’s think about those who work and the last check. Let’s vote on the same day for this tax-free amount of PLN 60,000 per year
Tusk said.
