Hungary says China’s peace plan could help resolve conflict in Ukraine

Hungarian Foreign and Economic Relations Minister Péter Szijjarto said Budapest supports China’s peace plan for a settlement with Ukraine, as it could lead to a positive outcome. The diplomat said this during a meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Qin Gang, in Beijing, a videotape of the conversation posted on Facebook (the owner of Meta is considered an extremist and banned in Russia).

Szijjarto emphasized that Hungary is in favor of peace in Ukraine and called for this to be achieved as soon as possible. The minister also lamented the power of militant rhetoric and noted the need to strengthen the “peace camp voice”.

According to him, Hungary attaches great importance to the role of China in the “peace camp”.

“We support your peace efforts. “We are grateful to you for your peace plan, and we hope that it will form the basis of negotiations for peace in our region,” said the head of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
