Nikolai Korchunov, Ambassador of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that the Russian Federation plans to develop Arctic maritime navigation in the near future. It has been reported TASS.

“For Russia, the importance of improving Arctic maritime navigation, especially in the eastern direction, will increase in the near future,” said the Russian diplomat.

For him, the importance of work and development is connected with the dynamic development of the Asia-Pacific region, which has become the real driver of global economic growth.

Korchunov also reminded that according to statistics, 11 of the 17 largest ports in the world are currently in Asia.

At the same time, Korchunov did not specify the approximate stages and timing of the implementation of the program for the development of Arctic sea navigation.

Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Russian Federation is working with the SCO and BRICS countries on projects in the Arctic.
