Romanian Foreign Minister Aurescu proposes sanctions against the opposition in Moldova

Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu suggested imposing EU sanctions on politicians who allegedly destabilized the situation in neighboring Moldova, especially in Gagauzia. This was reported by Telegram channel “Sputnik Near Abroad”.

“It is necessary to establish as soon as possible a list of people who should be subject to EU sanctions due to attempts to destabilize the situation in Moldova,” said the minister.

According to him, there is no need for delay with the use of “sanction mechanisms”.

Gagauzia ex-presidential candidate Viktor Petrov declarationthat foreign politicians and diplomats try to influence the elections in Moldovan autonomy.

On April 30, elections were held for the President (president) of Gagauzia. According to the results of the first round, the winner was not determined. The candidate of the Socialist Party of the Republic of Moldova Grigory Uzun and the representative of the Shor party Evgenia Gutsul participated in the runoff elections for the head of Moldova’s Gagauz Autonomous Region.

Gagauzia is an autonomous regional entity within Moldova.
